From the 29th of May to the 1 of June i attended to the 90th annual meeting of the German Society of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, in Berlin. The main theme of the congress was "Digitalization in Otorhinolaryngology", were i presented the work entitled "Speech differences between CI users with pre- and postlingual onset of deafness detected by speech processing methods on voiceless to voice transitions".
The poster i presented was about voiceless to voiced transitions to detect differences in the speech of pre- and postlingual Cochlear Implant (CI) users. For this, acoustic features were extracted automatically from the transitions and a statistical test was used to detect speech differences between the two groups. To extract the transitions, i search for the boundary between voiceless and voiced sounds using the fundamental frequency. Then, frame windows of 80 ms long are taken to the left and right of each border, forming speech segments of 160 ms.
