My name is Sebastião, and I'm a Portuguese researcher pursuing a PhD at Institut de Recherche en Informatique de Toulouse (IRIT). My research focuses on deep learning approaches to automatically assess head and neck cancer speech intelligibility, under the supervision of Prof. Julie Mauclair and Prof. Julien Pinquier. During the course of my PhD I will be working mostly on new methods that make the most out of limited amounts of data, a very characteristic factor of this field of research.
Previously I've studied Electrical Engineering, both B.Sc and M.Sc, at Instituto Superior Técnico - Lisboa. During that time, I had the opportunity to work with Text-to-Speech systems applied to a pathological context in a small data setting.
My research interests range from deep learning, automatic detection and tracking of pathological speech, speech processing and speech recognition.
